Grants and Funding
The purpose of Aboriginal Relations' grants is to fund initiatives that improve the well-being of Aboriginal people in Alberta. Registered non-profit organizations, Metis Settlements, Friendship Centres and First Nations can apply.
- To promote economic, employment and educational opportunities in Aboriginal communities.
- To assist communities and organizations in building capacities for self-reliance.
- To assist in building relationships and partnerships between Aboriginal organizations/communities, industry and various levels of government (e.g., development and implementation of integrated processes and programs)
- To develop and support consultative mechanisms.
- To improve and develop government-to-government relations
- To enhance Albertans' cultural awareness of Aboriginal communities and people.
- To provide seed project funding and to further government originated initiatives.
International, Intergovernmental and Aboriginal Relations will not consider funding honourariums, give-aways, prize money and out-of-province expenditures.
